Keeping it real.

Let’s all agree there is an awful lot of pressure on new mums to ‘bounce back’ after having welcomed a baby. You know – how the world kind of expects us to grow and birth a full-sized baby, then just snap back to the way we looked prior to getting pregnant in an instant.

However, for most of us, the vast majority, it doesn’t come quite that easy.

And much as the media makes us think so, getting back in shape after a baby doesn’t always come easy to celebrity mums either.

A while back model and new mum Kate Upton shared an Instagram post about not feeling too great about her body after the birth of her daughter Genevieve, and how she was struggling to finding the motivation to work out more.

Upton wrote:

“Getting in a little cardio with a family beach walk. I’m not going to lie to you and tell you I’ve been working out and eating healthy. It’s so hard over the holidays. Traveling and enjoying time with my family! I’m trying not to get down on myself. Instead use it as motivation to get right back at it! I have a long way to go to lose this baby weight but feeling determined for 2019! #strong4me

And out of everyone who commented on Upton’s post, one of them was actress, entrepeneur and fellow mum Jessica Alba.

Alba, who is a busy mum of three herself, had some valuable advice to share – and it really is the perfect reminder to all mums feeling like they are struggling to get back in shape after having had a baby.

The 37-year-old celebrity mama wrote:

“Be easy on yourself. Fitness is a marathon, not a sprint, and it’s more important to focus on you and your baby. The body will get there.” She added, “The thing I’ve learned after all three is how fast time flies. Soak up this baby time. And you are beyond gorgeous inside and out.”

And she’s right – you know she is. This baby time, it flies by so quickly, so let’s stop being so hard on ourselves, and pressure ourselves to look a certain way – and instead focus on being healthy, happy and present for all those delicious baby snuggles.
