It was only a couple of weeks ago that model mama – and our all-time social media crush – Chrissy Teigen, spoke about her experience with postpartum depression after giving birth to her daughter Luna last April.

Teigen shared her thoughts about having had a hard time after welcoming her first child in a personal essay for Glamour magazine, and women all over the world praised the celebrity mum for being so open about her own struggles and admitting even famous mothers – who even has hired help to make it easier – can find motherhood hard at first.

And now Chrissy’s husband, singer and songwriter John Legend, has opened up about how he coped with helping his wife thought his time.

“I am so proud of her for writing about her struggles and letting people know about it,” Legend told Vanity Fair. “It takes a lot of courage and she really is amazing for doing that.” Legend, who was in attendance at The Hollywood Reporter‘s Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood dinner party in Los Angeles last week, explained: “The reason why she acknowledged the pain that she’s going through was for her to let other women know that they’re not alone, and that it can happen to anyone.”

The singer explains he found it hard too, mostly because he didn’t know how to best support his wife.

“To be honest, I was really scared because I didn’t know what exactly she was feeling or how to help her,” Legend continued. “All I knew was that it was my job to do everything I could to help her and try to understand what she was going through. It’s about being compassionate and supporting her, and telling her no matter what, I am going to be there for her and that I love her.”
