She wasn't having any of it.

Julia Stiles has hit out at mummy-shamers after she was criticised for the way she was carrying her newborn baby.

The Riviera star welcomed her first child, Strummer, with husband Preston J. Cook on October 20.

Late last month, she shared a sweet snap of herself carrying their 5-week-old son.

She jokingly captioned it:

“I haven’t worn a back pack since middle school. ? Now I have a front pack.”

But her social media followers were quick to comment on the newborn’s positioning, claiming that she was “smothering” her son.

One person said:

“Please pull baby’s legs out for proper placement.”

Another wrote:

“This is worn improperly. Needs to be adjusted to the tightest fitting on the legs.”

Someone else claimed:

“The baby’s face is smothering!”

The Dexter star wasn’t having any of it, and later broke her silence on social media and addressed the trolling directly.

She wrote:

“It was brought to my attention that in the previous photo I am not holding my baby correctly.

“Wow, I didn’t expect that. What was supposed to be a shout out of products I like, suddenly becomes an invitation to comment on my baby, and my ability as a mother.

“I was trying to keep much of my son’s image private, including, I guess, his little feet. And it was just a photo taken at home, not how I normally carry him around. Thanks for the concern, anyway.

“Yes, mothers, always read the safety instructions. But also, Instagrammers: instead of writing snarky comments about a five-week-old, try dancing around your living room to a Clash record. It’s way more fun.”
