Her baby girl was born this week.

And now, Kim Kardashian has opened up about what it was like to bring a child into the world via a surrogate.

In the latest post on her website, the reality star explains that she had a gestational carrier, which is a surrogate who has no genetic link to the baby.

Kim clarified it by saying “the technical term for a woman who carries a baby that she has no biological relationship to.”

The mum-of-three suffered from preeclampsia and placenta accrete during her pregnancies with North and Saint, and thought it was best to go through an agency to find her gestational carrier.

“Although I never would have expected to go through something like this, the agency was so helpful and made me feel at ease about the whole process.

“Kanye and I were so blessed to have found the most amazing gestational carrier. We have a great relationship with her and trusted her completely throughout the entire process,” she said.

She later opened up about the emotional toll it had on her, especially when people criticized her because they thought she took “the easy way out.”

“People assume it’s better because you don’t have to deal with the physical changes, pain or complications with delivery, but for me it was so hard to not carry my own child, especially after I carried North and Saint.”

She also notes that while every women and pregnancy is different, “I absolutely love my gestational carrier and this was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
