A fun recipe for rainbow sand (that’s safe to taste!)

A handy indoor activity.

Sive O'Brien

Too cold for a trip to the seaside?

Bring the beach to your home this bank holiday weekend with this quick and easy rainbow sand recipe that’s also safe to taste.

Using just a few ingredients, the sand can be moulded to cut out shapes and, of course, make amazing sand castles. Note: The sand is not recommended for snacking on. It’s just good to know that all the ingredients are edible if your child DOES decide to sample the stuff.

You will need:

  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 2 cups of corn flour
  • 10 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Few drops of food colouring.

To make:

Simply mix all the dry ingredients together first, then add the oil, followed by the food colouring.
