The next royal baby was always going to have a bit of a different upbringing to his or her cousins.

Now it’s reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are going to raise their child as gender fluid.

Royal correspondent Kate Nicholl has said that the couple doesn’t want the baby to be subjected to stereotypes.

“Meghan has been talking to some of her friends about the birth and how she and Harry plan to raise their baby,” a source told Vanity Fair.

“Her exact word was fluid.

“She said they plan to raise their child with a fluid approach to gender and they won’t be imposing any stereotypes.”

It’s previously been reported that the couple are designing a neutral nursery at their new home of Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, opting for grey and white colours as opposed to a traditional pink or blue.

The news comes after hints about the baby’s gender broke in the media in the past week.

Images from Meghan’s baby shower in New York showed pastel pink treats being served, suggesting that it was a girl.

But contrasting reports stated that the Duchess told her friends at the shower that she was having a boy.

Raising children as gender neutral has become something of a trend in Hollywood.

Most recently, Kate Hudson revealed that she was taking a “genderless approach” to bringing up her daughter.

Other celebrities like Paloma Faith and Angelina Jolie have also spoken about raising their children without stereotypes.
