This Morning has sparked debate by asking their viewers and followers on Twitter if parents are too soft on their children.
On Monday’s show, presenters Ruth Langsford and Rylan Clark-Neal were talking about how some toddlers have been expelled from nurseries after violent behaviour and whether the problem stems from home.
A survey, conducted by the show, found that almost two thirds of people know a child who has been violent towards a fellow pupil or teacher.
A fifth apparently revealed that their child had been violent towards them or another family member.
The programme threw the question out on Twitter, asking: “As we talk about the one year olds deemed too violent for nursery, we want to know – are parents too soft on their children?”
It received a rather mixed reaction…
We teach kids that when we do wrong they are punished with a smack to the wrist or bum then complain when our kids are violent #ViolentKids

#violentkids @itvthismorning too much pressure is put on teachers to behaviour manage. Parents and teachers need to work together

@itvthismorning I’m sorry but if your child is violent and biting other children then they deserve to be excluded! #ViolentKids

#violentkids @itvthismorning I totally agree that it’s about working together. Then again there is a massive strain on teachers…

I think that children that are 1 should not be expelled instead that boundaries be put down for their age group #thismorning #violentkids

What do you think – should kids be expelled immediately after such an incident and where does the responsibility lie? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
