Mum Receives Scolding Note From Pre-School Teacher For Chocolate In Lunchbox

Sive O'Brien

One Australian mum (of eight!) sent her little pre-schooler off to kindergarten with a packed lunch and a treat but didn’t quite expect the little one to come home with a note from the food police for mommy.

The mother’s friend posted this on Facebook, and the internet debate is getting super-heated – as it always does when it comes to sugary treats and kids, and how much they consume.

Parental judgement about food choices has and probably always will be one of those topics that fuels heated arguments. It’s becoming more and more common these days as childhood obesity is on the rise, and most schools are adopting healthy eating policies, but is a note sent home like this to a mother of eight the right way to manage this issue?

While it’s brilliant that they promote healthy eating, and I wholeheartedly agree that schools should absolutely have healthy eating policies, this scolding note would be enough to make anyone feel their parenting skills were a little less than accurate, don’t you think? Making a parent who, let’s fact it is most likely trying to just do her best, feel like a naughty schoolchild might not be the approach to take.

What do you think, readers? Would you be okay receiving a note like this?
