‘Mummmmmm!’ 12 things we’ve already done by 10am on a Saturday

Remember spending Saturday mornings lying in bed watching telly?

Remember when you would spend Saturday mornings lying in bed watching telly?

Nope, we don’t either. Once you have kids, Saturdays become a day for early starts, football matches, ballet recitals and speech and drama feis’.

Sometimes we actually surprise ourselves with the sheer number of things we can get done all before we get to sit down to eat our scrambled eggs.

Here are the 15 things we have already done by 10am on a Saturday.

Stopped at least one, make that two pretty major fights

Sometimes you feel like a referee at a rugby match.

Managed to brush your teeth while making the kids’ beds.

You are the queen of multi-tasking and no one can deny it.

Made two breakfasts

Because the first one tasted ‘icky’.

Emptied the dishwasher while listening to ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ on the recorder

It doesn’t matter that you’ve heard it ten times already today, you’re proud of your little Mozart in the making.

Watched at least two kids cartoons

Thank God for Saturday morning tv is all we can say.

Tripped over a stack of unassuming Lego

You could’ve sworn you put away last night…

Folded the laundry and put on another load

Sadly it just won’t do itself.

Promised the kids they can have dessert later if they just get dressed

Listen, there’s no point denying it, sometimes bribery is the only option left.

Attempted to have a shower…

Only to be interrupted by numerous little visitors who just want to know what you’re up to every minute of the day.

Done a little happy dance when the kids finally get dressed

You take your victories where you can get them.

Created a plan of action for the day ahead

Including what you will have for lunch and dinner, who will be dropping the kids off at their play dates, when you will have time to visit relatives and where you will do the weekly grocery shop.

Abandoned said plan for the easier alternatives

We’ll try again tomorrow.
