This calculator will work out how much sleep you’ve LOST since becoming a parent

The numbers are staggering.

Anna O'Rourke

Has it been years since you got a full eight hours?

Most of us are no strangers to sleep deprivation, but have you ever wondered just how much precious shut-eye being a parent has cost you?

Well, there’s an app for that.

The very intriguing Lost Sleep Calculator works out your lost sleep to the hour and its findings are pretty staggering.

For example, if you have one baby aged six months, the calculator estimates that you’ve lost a whopping 918 hours of sleep – an incredible 38 days.

Meanwhile, if you have a child who’s two years and eight months and another who’s four years and three months, you’ve sacrificed an estimated 6,660 hours of sleep since your first one came along.

That works out at around 9 whole months. Yikes.

In case you wondered, it also estimates how many nappies you’ve changed and presents some other interesting data.

The calculator was built by Hillary’s, a UK-based carpets and blinds company.

It cites a number of sources for its calculations but you might want to take them with a pinch of salt – all families are different, after all.

Still, it’s pretty fun to play around with and will remind you just how resilient mums and dads are.
