“We thought it was a pipe dream… until now.”
Paddy McGuinness has often spoken about his life as a father to three children, two of which have been diagnosed with autism.
The TV host’s four-year-old twins, Penelope and Leo, were both diagnosed with autism last year and he and his wife, Christine, decided to share that diagnosis with followers on the twin’s fourth birthday.
Since then, the couple have spoken publicly and have been keen to raise awareness about ASD.
This week, Paddy shared a small victory that he and his family enjoyed when they went on their first family holiday with their three children.
“Being parents with autistic children, for us, family holidays have bee a pipe dream until now,” he wrote.
“After four and a half years, we’ve finally conquered a family holiday… to Preston! We managed two days there, which for us was massive.
“We had to take so much stuff but to see our kids having fun was well worth it.”
Taking to Instagram to share the news with followers, Paddy took the time to encourage other parents of ASD children to not lose faith that they too can go on a family holiday.
“If you’re a parent dealing with autism on a daily basis, please don’t give up hope on things like holidays. It was a hell of a long time getting there but we did it.
“Now all I need to do is sleep for a week,” he added.
