The mum was left humiliated.

The mum has shared her story on Facebook.

Amanda Zilliken was asked to leave church when she began breastfeeding her four-month-old daughter during the ceremony.

The mum is sharing details of the encounter online, saying a church volunteer asked her to go to the bathroom to feed her daughter.

Amanda also revealed that she was using a cover while feeding her daughter, yet was still asked to leave Sunday service.

The mum told The Observer that a volunteer said:

“Honey, you have to understand that my job as a volunteer is to make sure everyone is comfortable, not just you.”

Amanda said the experience left her feeling completely humiliated.

Amanda’s story spread far online with breastfeeding activists reminding followers that feeding in public is the law in North Carolina.

One woman even organised a nurse-in at the same church for the following week.

So far, 30 people have said they will attend and participate in the demonstration.

“That was wrong to take me from hearing the word of God to remove me to a restroom,” Amanda told WCNC. “That is what God made my body to do.

“We should not have to be ashamed of doing something that’s good for our children.”
