Yikes!
As part of yesterday’s This Morning show Holly Willoughby was live from St. Thomas Hospital in London. She was at the hospital to speak to expectant mothers, mid wives and doctors while live on air.
Her main hope was that a baby would be born while she was broadcasting live and that’s exactly what happened. Holly announced to the audience that a little baby, Mei, was born less than an hour before the show ended.
She was joined by the new dad, Sam, for the piece where she introduced the couple’s first child. She interviewed Sam who was holding his newborn while his partner was still in the operating theatre after having surgery.
Holly then asked to take baby Mei and hold her saying, “Am I allowed a snuggle? She is so special, so magical. I think I might be the second person to hold you.”
Isn’t she just adorable? @hollywills got to meet newborn baby Mei during today’s maternity special, who was born during today’s show! ?? pic.twitter.com/bQBoJzJalk

While a lot of people were delighted with the new arrival, others were very annoyed that Holly got to hold the baby before the mum.
They took to Twitter to complain:
Oh nooooo! Holly holding a newborn baby before baby’s mum, who was still in theatre being stitched. I’d be so upset. Not cool. @thismorning

@thismorning @GSTTnhs Did Holly really hold the baby before the mother? That goes against everything you’re taught about delivering a baby

I’d be pissed off if I was the mum and found out Holly had held my baby before me #ThisMorning
