Peter Pan on Ice is coming to Dublin for five days only

‘Second to the right’, said Peter ‘and then straight on to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre’

Sophie White

The famous opening line of J.M. Barrie’s novel, Peter Pan is “All children, except one, grow up.” Though most of the time, we still feel like kids especially when there is annoying adult admin required, and we just feel like having a nap. Or when we hear that Peter Pan on Ice is coming to town this week, and we are suddenly besieged by insane levels of excitement and nostalgia.

The story is over one hundred years old at this point, but the characters and themes are as vivid as ever. Next week us grown up children will have a chance to experience Peter’s magic once more when the Russian Ice Stars bring the story to life at Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre. If they’re lucky, we’ll bring the actual children along too.

With sorcery worthy of Tinker Bell, herself, the Bord Gais Energy Theatre will be transformed into an ice palace for Peter, Wendy, Michael and John to play out one of the best-loved stories of all time. The spectacle promises to be a dazzling display of world-class ice skating, heart-in-mouth aerial acrobatics and stunning choreography by World, European and Olympic competitors.

The Russian Ice Stars combine the beauty and form of ballet with the speed and precision of figure skating to create a show that will dazzle kids and former kids alike.

Peter Pan on Ice is showing at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from Tuesday 10 until Saturday 14 March. Tickets from €12.50 are available through Ticketmaster, tel: 0818 719 377 or see Bord Gais Energy Theatre for more information.
