A woman who works as a stripper has opened up about how her job has helped her as a parent.

Elle Stanger dances at a club in Portland, Oregon in the US and is mum to a five-year-old daughter.

She reckons her line of work has opened her eyes to the world, something which benefits her daughter too.

“I feel like being a sex worker makes me a better mum because I’ve developed a greater sense of empathy,” she told Barcroft TV.

“It means that I’m responsible to make a human being that is better for the world.

“She is going to be a lot more secure about the world around her.”

Elle is a committed feminist and is at the forefront of her local sex-positivity movement, organising the annual Portland Slut Walk.

She says her daughter is aware of what she does as she’s told her that she dances and talk to people for money.

“I have raised a great kid. She is really smart and she is really happy.”

Other parents’ views don’t bother her, she says.

“I think people don’t trust that I could raise a child in a nurturing, safe, structured environment because they’re projecting their own fears on me.

“When I’m a mum, I’m a mum, when I’m in the adult world working, I’m doing my adult work – those two things do not overlap.”

Elle’s partner of two years Bryan said that her being a mother was one of the things that he initially liked about her.

“Elle’s a good mum because she will do absolutely anything for her child and the wellbeing of her daughter is 100 per cent her priority, and that was honestly one other thing that really attracted me to her, when I found out she is a mother.”
