Robin Thicke’s girlfriend April is being harshly criticised for sharing a breastfeeding photo

Mothers need to feed their children, guys.

Breastfeeding is not a controversial act.

It’s a mother feeding her child using her body – essentially, probably one of the most natural things in the world.

Some mothers choose to feed their babies in private while others don’t mind who sees them breastfeeding.

It’s all up to the individual mom at the end of the day.

And yet, people are still critical of new mums who decide to share their breastfeeding journey on social media… especially if those new mums are models like April Love Geary.

April and boyfriend Robin Thicke welcomed their first child a few months back. Baby Mia is the Blurred Lines singer’s first child with April.

Yesterday, the new mum decided to upload a photo of herself feeding her daughter.

The image was taken by Robin and shows mum and baby sitting together surrounded by blankets.

April strategically placed an ‘x’ over her nipple in order to bypass Instagram’s guidelines regarding female nipples.

However, this wasn’t good enough for some people who took to April’s post to call her an attention seeker, who would apparently “attract perverts” to her page by sharing such images.

“So unnecessary lady. Get it together. The attention your seeking here will do you no good,” said one person.

“Pictures like this only attract perverts so why share it,” asked another.

Another person took issue with the fact that April has makeup on in the photograph.

They wrote:

“I am all for the normalisation of breastfeeding. However, if you truly wanted to normalise it with a picture, you wouldn’t have a full smoky eye, glossy lips and perfectly styled beach waves in your hair.

“To normalise it truly why don’t you post a pic of you doing it at 2am having just woken up yet again, to nourish your little girl? This does seem very smug and self-promoting, even if you didn’t intend it to be.”

Despite the negativity, April also received many supportive comments on her post with people saying they were glad to see a working mum taking the time to feed her daughter.

“Only the nutjobs of the world find this pic offensive, which is why Instagram doesn’t remove it,” said one user.

“So beautiful seeing a mama feed her baby. I don’t understand this world and why people would be offended,” wrote another.
