Roll Up, Roll Up! Could This Be The BEST Family Holiday Of All Time?

Amanda Cassidy

Clown School isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when planning your summer family holiday.

But now you can sip Pina colada’s by the pool and learn the flying trapeze.

A Cirque de Soleil inspired circus training school has just opened in the South of France and we will race you there!

The resort, called Club Med Opio, is just an hour from Nice, and as well as the usual tennis, golf and fitness club, it boasts bungee, aerial silk, tightrope lessons and trampoline all taught by acrobatic trainers.

There is a dedicated kids club, three kids restaurants and three bars (a must after the triple backflip dismount obvs) It is all inclusive and they have free places for kids under four.

So if your kids enjoy clowning around and you fancy working on your tight rope skills (never too late to start) check it out as we are sure it will be a big hit.

But if you prefer your summer holidays more lazy than crazy you can always check out the Holiday Show in Dublin’s RDS this weekend.

Traditionally January is the busiest time to book holidays as people plan their year ahead against the backdrop of dreary weather and a post-Christmas anti-climax.

Don’t forget that travelling ‘en famille’ doesn’t have to be boring just because your kids are young – try to mix it up a little and remember these are some of the best memories you are making.

We took our three little ones to Venice last year – we stayed in a mobile home at a resort nearby but we took a day-trip into Venice and rode on the gondolas.  They have not stopped talking about it all year.

Other holiday options we are crushing on include family cycle holidays, a stay at a farmhouse gite (cheap and great fun for kids) or why not explore somewhere closer by like New Forrest in the UK where you can stay in forrest cabins and channel your inner family Robinson.

We are not so silly as to believe you will actually get to relax or unwind very much with little children around but just think how cute the photos would be somewhere a little less straightforward.

Besides, how funny it would be to see your partner attempt the flying trapeze or zip through the tree-tops in a forrest trail.

What do you think ladies, would you attempt a more ‘out there’ kind of trip with your family? Do you think your little clowns would like the circus holiday?
