Struggling with mastitis? Your vibrator could be a complete lifesaver

Just spread the good vibes.

You’ve nothing to lose.

Among all of the things that stress new mums out, struggling with breastfeeding is probably one of the most frustrating.

Mastitis is a common problem that can be hard to tackle, but one mum has sworn by using her trusty vibrator, of all things, to get her flow back.

Danielle had her first encounter with the condition when she was pregnant with her now three-year-old daughter.

“She was a premmie and I had mastitis a lot – so it was very difficult because it gives you aching muscles and joints, headaches temperatures and flu symptoms she told Kidspot.

“I’ve had mastitis four times with my nine-month-old son.

“I had tried everything – heat packs, rubbing it, pumping, hot showers – everything,” she added.

She saw someone recommend using a vibrator to unblock milk ducts in a mum’s group online and gave it a go.

“It didn’t hurt to use the vibrator – it was the least painful of everything I had tried before,”

She admitted she didn’t think the vibrator would work but has been mastitis-free since using it.

“I am weaning my son at the moment and had blocked ducts for a day before using the vibrator for 10 minutes.

“I was worried I would get mastitis again but I haven’t after that and have used the vibrator again since.”

Want to give it a go yourself? Mums online recommend running a vibrator or even electric toothbrush along your breast from top to bottom, but make sure you chat to your doctor if you’re really struggling with mastitis.
