Fair play to him.
A dad has been praised online for the heartwarming reason that the let his 5-year-old daughter shave his head.
Zach and Ashley Hayes run the Hayes Family Vlog, a video channel that they use to raise awareness about their 5-year-old daughter, Malia,
And while a lot of their videos feature Disneyland – the place where they say Malia feels the most comfortable and accepted – one of their most recent ones has gone viral for a very important message.
Zach explained that they had been spending a day at the park as a family when some of the other kids there began to make hurtful comments about Malia’s appearance.
He explained:
“I heard one of them go ‘Dude, that’s a girl and she’s bald. She has no hair.’ So I’m instantly like ‘Come on, man. I don’t want to do this right now.'”
Unfortunately, the questions kept coming about the reason why Malia doesn’t have any hair – and she began to feel self-conscious.
After the father-daughter duo sat down to discuss the boys’ comments, Zach was inspired to show his support for the young girl in a sweet way.
To show Malia that “hair doesn’t need to be what defines you”, he asked her to help him shave his head.
He told KCRA News:
“I asked her if it was OK if I looked like her.
“I told her it would be an honor of mine to have her cut my hair for me… I just threw the clippers in her hand and said go for it.”
The video has been viewed more than 10,000 times so far, touching the hearts of social media users across the world.

I just saw this vlog and cried my eyes out. As someone who has had alopecia since I was 4, I’ve heard so many things. It’s hard as a child and she’ll learn and she has amazing parents who will support her and be there for her!! 😊
