The important car seat hack every parent should follow

This is going viral for a very good reason.

When it comes to car seats, there are numerous guidelines for choosing the right one and installing them correctly but there’s a specific piece of advice you may not have heard of before now.

It relates to what happens in the event of a car accident and although this is a scenario no parent wants to envisage, this tip might save your child’s life.

Writing specific details about your children on their car seats can provide emergency services with essential information in the event of a crash.

If you’re not in a position to answer any questions, the basics including your little one’s name, date of birth, next of kin, emergency contacts and any relevant medication will be on hand for paramedics to consult.

According to Kidspot, Kaitlyn from Indiana is the mum behind this genius hack.

An emergency medical technician, she shared the post because she believes it’s something every parent should know.

Kaitlyn works for Frankton Ambulance Services and she shared the post on the Rose City Area Fire Department Facebook page.

Her post reads:

“Way too often do firefighters come upon a car wreck with child(ren) in the car who are too young to have any info and parents are unconscious. It takes 2 minutes of your time to write out child’s name, DOB, parents names, DOB, emergency contacts and any medical conditions, any meds your child is on and even child’s doctor, then stick it to the child’s car seat. This helps EMS a ton and can also help save your child’s life.
