The children’s toothbrush trick which is absolutely blowing parents’ minds

Keeley Ryan

Did you know this?

Parents have been left mind-blown after finding out a surprising and apparently little-known fact about children’s toothbrushes.

As it turns out those coloured bristles aren’t there for no reason – they’re actually ‘toothpaste indicators’.

One mum shared her discovery on the Little Learners Southport page on Facebook – and it’s been reposted nearly 5,000 times so far.

She wrote:

“Tell me I am NOT the only one who didn’t know that the coloured bristles on children’s toothbrushes are ‘toothpaste indicators’ that tell you where to put it and how much toothpaste to use!?”

Based off of the reaction to her post, it’s safe to say she wasn’t the only one who wasn’t aware of this.

One mum said: “I thought it was just a pretty pattern!”

Another added:

“I knew it was [a] pea size [amount] and thought this colour code is just a design until I read this.”

Someone else commented:

“I absolutely did not know this – genuinely thought they were just super colourful to encourage children to brush.”

A different mind-blown parent wrote:

“I thought they were just to make it look better.”

The post has been liked more than 1,700 times and re-shared 4,800 times since it was first shared last year.
