This mum’s hilarious video shows why kids actually don’t need loads of toys

Keeley Ryan

It can sometimes feel like it is hard to control the toy situation if you have a baby.

Or a toddler. Or a child. A little one of any age, really.

Some of them are ones parents have bought themselves (occasionally having fallen for those ads about toys that’ll stimulate your child’s mind or language, etc).

Many of them end up being gifts – whether they’re for birthdays, visits from Santa or because granny and grandad have dropped in with “one or two” presents for their beloved grandchild.

It can lead to an accumulation of toys that seems both overwhelming and never-ending – and it’s bound to get even worse with the holiday season just around the corner.

And, more often than not, younger smallies will end up distracted by something else entirely – your car keys, remote or even the packaging on the toy – and forget about the newly purchased goodies.

New York blogger Esther Anderson created a video that looks at “this theory about babies and baby toys” after three kids – and it proved to be “sooooo true.”

The perfectly-titled clip is called Baby Toys vs. Random Things.

Equal parts hilarious and a cautionary tale in the lead up to just about any celebration, you can find the clip below.
