Victoria Secret’s Model Says She Feels Pressure To Cover Up When Breastfeeding

Amanda Cassidy

She is one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Yet Candice Swanepoel says she has been “made feel the need to cover up and somewhat shy to feed my baby in a public place”

The 28 year old South African beauty shared a sweet snap of herself feeding her young son Anaca on Instagram. The little boy was born in October.

“Many women today are shamed for breastfeeding in public, or even kicked out of public places for feeding their children. I have been made to feel the need to cover up and somewhat shy to feed my baby in public places but strangely feel nothing for the topless editorials I’ve done in the name of art..?”

She continued by saying there was a double standard when it comes to exposing yourself in public:

“The world has been desensitized to the sexualization of the breast and to violence on tv…why should it be different when it comes to breastfeeding? Breastfeeding is not sexual it’s natural- Those who feel it is wrong to feed your child in public need to get educated on the benefits breastfeeding has on mother and child and intern on society as a whole,”

The Victoria secrets model is not the first celebrity to hit out at critics over their parenting choices.

Fellow model, Chrissy Teigen, slammed those who ‘mummy shamed’ her for holding her baby girl ‘incorrectly’. She took to social media to say say thanks but no thanks to all those who targeted her online.

What do you think mamas? Should breastfeeding in public still be a debate or is it down to an individual’s own confidence?
