WATCH: Donegal singer in emotional ad celebrating preemies

A Donegal singer-songwriter has provided the backing track to an emotional new advert that celebrates premature babies coming home.

Irish singer-songwriter Chanele McGuinness sings a beautiful version of ‘Coming Home’ in a new ad featuring the much-anticipated homecoming of babies who spent their first weeks in hospital wards.

Pampers have launched their smallest nappy ever, specially designed with neonatal nurses to meet the specific needs of the smallest premature babies. The advert was filmed at Southampton Hospital’s neonatal unit in the UK, and features nine real families, their babies and the hospital staff.

The scenes capture the emotional ups and downs of having premature babies and raise awareness for the vital work of neo-natal staff. Chanele’s song provides a lullaby-like tone which perfectly suits the mood.

As part of their campaign to celebrate babies in neonatal units, and those who care for them, Pampers are donating three million nappies to neonatal units in the UK and Ireland to ensure all little fighters get the size P3 diaper, which is suitable for babies weighing as little as 500g and is three sizes smaller than a regular newborn nappy.

The advert has moved many parents to tears as they remember their babies’ first days. Chanele, who is from Ballyshannon in Co Donegal, shared her admiration for the strength of little babies on social media:

“Really proud to be singing on the beautiful new ad for Pampers! Go little fighters!”
