This drives me mad and I’m sure I’m not alone.
We are all sitting in the restaurant when the little one needs a change. Like a serious change.
I’m busy cutting meat for the other children and generally trying to manage the stress that only people with multiple children in a restaurant can understand.
It’s a big mess of sweat (mine) crayons, ketchup and tears (usually mine too)
Luckily, I have a very hands-on husband who always happily takes on his share of the kiddie load.
But it is often the restaurant, cafe, supermarket or airport that seriously lets us down.
This time, and it isn’t the first time, my husband returns within seconds shrugging his shoulders – the only changing table is in the ladies toilets.
Furious, I peel the other children off me, grab the nappy bags and stomp off to the ladies cursing the everyday sexism that continues to perpetuate women as the only bum wipers in this world.
I should be happy there was even a changing table. Often over the years, I have found myself having to change my baby on the car seat (while stationary!) on the grass, even on my lap because of the very un-baby-friendly nature of many places here in Ireland.

We can also take pity on this dad who was actually shamed for changing his baby’s nappy in the parent’s room in an Australian supermarket.

While he was in the parents’ room changing the baby, a woman walked in with her son.
“She looked at me and started laying into me saying that it was ‘disgusting to see a fully-grown man in a parents’ room with a little girl””
Nuts.
