Mum blogger wants dads to start taking more family photos and you’ll love the reason why

Cathy Donohue

This makes so much sense.

As mums know all too well, photo-taking duty is often left to you and if you neglected it, there wouldn’t be many for the family album.

One mum is completely fed up with this approach though and she’s taken it upon herself to encourage dads to take more photos.

The below photo was taken of Sophie Cachia and her son Bobby and it’s the type of moment between mother and son that can be difficult to catch on camera.

This prompted the business owner and blogger to ask her husband, and indeed men everywhere, to start taking more pictures of their wives and partners with their children, rather than the other way around.

It made waves back in 2016 but it has recently popped up online again in the past few days and we figure it’s something worth chatting about.

Sophie isn’t the only mum feeling like this and it’s an important subject to discuss which is why we’re highlighting it again.

We really appreciate the caption she chose to accompany the post too as it makes her point perfectly.

“Dear Men, take the photo. Take the god damn photo. We spend days capturing beautiful moments of you and the kids. So whenever you see one of us with our babies, a beautiful candid moment, take the bloody god damn photo. Cheers, Mums.

“(@jarydcachia nailed it. He TOOK THE PHOTO. Time with my boy while bub sleeps. Miss lazing around with you everyday”.

It can all be too easy for mothers to take the helm at the camera and without even realising, dad has been working overtime posing for cheesy snaps.

Mums need to appear in those sweet snaps too, funny faces and big grins because those are the pictures you will treasure down the line.

Not taking those family photos is one regret you don’t want to have.

Sophia’s photo isn’t a new snap but it’s such an important message that we figure it should be discussed, regardless of the timestamp.
