This is what Zoe Saldana has to say about raising three boys

We all know how easy it is to feel envious of someone’s life when you glance at their Instagram feed.

I mean; nothing can make me question my own parental skills when I see how easy someone else makes it look – with their (apparently) always tidy homes and well-behaved children.

This especially goes for celebrities, who on top of the tidy homes and well-mannered kids also look so perfectly groomed and in control at all times too.

And much as we all know that Instagram isn’t real – or even anywhere near it, it can sometimes be hard to look around at our own messy homes and howling three-year-olds and feel like we are winning at life. Which is why it is refreshing when someone owns up to not doing it all by themselves and being too perfect for words.

Zoe Saldana recently kept it real when she opened up to Yahoo Style about the chaos that comes with raising three boys. The 38-year-old actress spoke about handling her busy schedule while caring for her a newborn, Zen, and 2-year-old twins, Cy and Bowie, and admitted the only way she can make it all work is with help – lots of help.

“Our assistant, our nanny, and our housekeeper – they are literally raising our children with us,” Saldana reveals. “It’s because of them I am able to rip myself away as long as I can, and my husband as well, to do what we do. They’re teaching us how to manage our pain as they’re raising our kids with us. When you’re away a little too much, it compromises a lot more things. It’s a sacrifice and a pain that will never go away. You take every day at a time.”

The actress also talks about how she finds raising boys after coming from a very all-girl family.

“I am accepting this ironic challenge that this universe has presented to me. I learn every day that men are marvelous and wonders of light, the same way I’ve been feeling about women, because I come from a family of matriarchs. I’ve married a man that I worship every day, and I have sons that humble me to no end.”
