This mum's simple €1 trick transforms daughter's scuffed school shoes

My little boy is a shoe killer.

Honestly, I don't know how he does it, but within days of starting to use a new pair of shoes, he has managed to scuff the front of them. And not just a little scuff, but literally made the shoes look as if they are about to fall apart.

Sigh.

Now, luckily, he doesn't wear a school uniform, so there are no uniform shoes to keep immaculate, however, we go through runners like we were made of money in this house – which, to be clear, we are not.

However, I recently came across this genius trick one mum has for fixing scuffed school shoes – and honestly – everyone should know about this.

Brighton-based mum Veronique McDermott recently took to social media to show how easily they can make scuffed shoes look brand new again – even if they look completely ruined.

McDermott said she simply used black electric wire tape to cover up the worn-out areas on the front of her five-year-old daughter's school shoes, and the results are unbelievable.

The mum-of-one says she spent just 89p (about €1) on the tape and said it's saved her buying a brand new pair of school shoes for daughter Brooke, when there's still plenty of life left in them.

Posting in the Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas group, McDermott wrote:

'When I bought my kids' first pair of school shoes within 3 weeks she had damaged the toes which looked horrible but I couldn't bring myself to buy another pair knowing the shoes still had loads of life in them.

'So I thought I'd tape the toes with electric wire tape. They lasted ages and I've now done the second round on the same pair.. Ready to last hopefully another few months!'
