'Soak it all in' – the words about parenting that will make you embrace even the hard days
The days are long, but the years are short.
These are the words uttered to so many mums, and yet, at first, we don't really see how true they are. When our babies are tiny, the days are indeed long, and sometimes relentless in their monotony and full-on-ness.
However, as our children grow, and milestones and stages seem to whizz by, suddenly we see it – the years are short. Too short. And much as we try to, we can't slow them down, and day by day, our children are growing up in front of our very eyes.
Which is why I am forever reminding myself to soak it all in. Revel in this time, enjoy these messy, chaotic and truly beautiful days for all they are worth – because I know that once they are gone, I will wish with every fibre in my body that I could have them back.
This beautiful Facebook post sums it up so beautifully – and reminds us all how we need to just embrace the chaos that having children is – because it all goes by so much too quickly.
