Dad admits he won’t sign birth cert if wife chooses ‘confusing’ name for daughter

“Prime target for really mean people to pick on”

We all know choosing a baby name is not the easiest decision in the world.

There are just far too many names to pick from and sometimes we feel like closing our eyes and picking a random one out from our list.

One dad left the decision in his wife’s hands, but it’s safe to say he regrets it.

He explained that he chose their son’s name, so when their daughter is born his wife was the one in charge of her moniker.

“Our agreement was that I got to name the first baby, and she got to name the second baby. She didn’t have any strong opinions or preferences with regards to naming our son so I went with what I thought was a strong, somewhat unique name but that could just as easily suit a musician as a lawyer or doctor,” the dad shared on Reddit.

He explained that he called their son Calvin Heath. He chose Heath after his brother who sadly died.

The dad admitted he hates the moniker his wife has chosen for their baby girl.

She wants to call their daughter Ever Winter Rain.

“Ever is the first name and Winter Rain is the middle name. I don’t think this is a good name and that it isn’t fair to our daughter because Ever is a word and I don’t think it passes the supreme court justice test — it doesn’t sound professional, it’s confusing because it’s a word and I don’t think it would suit her into adulthood.”

The dad said Winter could work as her first name and a more “normal” name like Emma for her middle name, but his wife has refused his suggestions because they agreed she could pick the name.

The dad admitted he won’t sign the birth certificate if she calls her Ever.

People empathised with the father but reminded him that he did have an agreement with his wife.

One user said: “See if she will go with Everly.”

“That name is prime target for really mean people to pick on. Like did the wife forget how cruel kids can be?” another added.

Do you think the dad is being dramatic or does he have a point?
