Due in September? Here is some REALLY great news about babies born this month

How well your child fares in life is often down to a variety of factors.

Many will figure things like parental involvement and socioeconomic life situation matter, which they do, of course.

But did you know that your child’s birth month could also to an extent predict their overall success throughout their childhood and adolescence?

Yup, it’s true. And if you are about to give birth to an autumn baby, count yourself lucky.

According to the finding of a study by the University of Toronto, the University of Florida and Northwestern University, researchers found that that the age of a child when they start school can make a substantial difference in their subsequent cognitive development from ages six to 15.

And that because of all this, September-born babies tend to do better in key areas of life, often being more confident than their peers, more likely to go to college and less likely to be convicted for crimes in their youth.

Why you say? What’s so special about September?

Well, in many countries, including Ireland, the cut-off for whether you will be starting school one year or the next is often early autumn, like August or September – meaning, of course, that August and September babies (or sometimes babies born in late summer too) are often the oldest students entering their classes each year.
