Babies born in October are pretty special, according to science

HerFamily

Are you due to give birth this month?

Well, aren’t you lucky? There is nothing more special than welcoming a brand new baby, and seeing how this is our very favourite season (the leaves, the colours, the pumpkins, the cosy nights in!), we can’t think of anything better than to have your maternity leave stretching out ahead of you in this season of hygge.

Another bonus?

Babies born this month have some pretty amazing advantages, according to science.

No really – just listen to this:

1. They might just reach their 100th birthday

Apparently, people born in October “have a significantly higher likelihood of survival to age 100 compared to individuals born in April,’ says a 2011 study from the University of Chicago.

2. They’re really good at sports

A 2014 study of stamina and strength in school kids found “October-born children were stronger than those born in all months except September and November.”

The more summer rays a mother is exposed to during her pregnancy, the more Vitamin D her unborn child benefits from apparently (one of those benefits being bone and muscle growth).

Babies born in autumn tend to have slightly bigger bone and muscle mass, Dr Gavin Sandercock, from the Centre for Sports and Exercise Science at Essex University told New York Magazine. “They start off with more muscle, become active earlier [and] then get involved in athletics sooner. It becomes a positive cycle.”

3. They are romantics – but great at business too

Proven to be quite charming, October babies make for good romantic partners. Ruled by Venus, they create harmony and are known as the “peacemakers.”

However, don’t dismiss them as softies, though – hard-working and determined, those born in October are also all about business and will no doubt make a great success out of their life.
