Few things beat lounging by the pool (or on the beach) and getting stuck into a brand new book, in my humble opinion.

It’s what summer holidays should be all about (you know, in between the chasing after toddlers or trying to keep sun-hats on babies, obvs.)

And look, we love a good thriller or easy-to-digest chic-lit novel as much as the next girl, but this holiday season, how about packing a book or two in your suitcase that might just end up changing your life a little (or a lot)?

Inspiring, confidence boosting, and motivating; pick up any of these three so-called self-help books before you jet off this summer, and you’ll be guaranteed to want to make some serious improvements and changes to your life come autumn.

1. How To Do Nothing

Life is flipping stressful these days, no? The whole culture of busy and this sense that being busy somehow makes us more successful and important has taken over, and it is not doing our health and wellness any favours.

In ‘How To Do Nothing’ author Jenny Odell makes the case that actually, sometimes doing nothing is vital for our health and happiness.

And she is here to tell you just how to do that – to slow down and knock the hustle – and still live a full and amazing life.

Trust me – you will look at things differently after having read this book.

2. The Moment of Lift

For the last twenty years, Melinda Gates has been on a mission to find solutions for people with the most urgent needs, wherever they live. Throughout this journey, one thing has become increasingly clear to her: If you want to lift a society up, you need to stop keeping women down.

Girl Power and feel good factor, this book really dives into how important it is for our entire society to lift women up and for women to be each others biggest supporters. For anyone raising girls – and boys – this book is a must-read, I think, and will really make you feel like the even the little choices and things you do at home can end up making a difference.

3. WorkParty: How to Create & Cultivate the Career of Your Dreams

Jaclyn Johnson—the founder and CEO behind Create & Cultivate, the fastest growing online platform and conference for millennial women in business— offers a rallying cry for a new generation of women who are redefining the meaning of work on their own terms: WorkParty. Women who want it all and more, and guess what? They can have it.

Got a budding business idea you would like to explore? Feel like you might want to start something new? Bored with your current job and feel like there could be more out there? This book is for you – and will make you want to hustle your little heart out for a lilfe you have created, not just settled for.
