3 weird beauty hacks we’re stealing from Kristen Bell

Orlaith Condon

We’re absolute suckers for a good beauty tip, and Kristen Bell has them in spades.

The 36-year-old is partnering with the World Wildlife Fund and Tide Purclean to encourage people to be more eco-friendly in their lives – and one way she recommends we make a change is in our beauty regime.

The mum-of-two is sharing her top beauty tips and some of them involve items you’d find in your kitchen cupboard.

Here are three we’ll be trying ourselves tonight.

1. The magic of manuka

Kristen says she used manuka honey in a multitude of ways and says it does amazing things for her skin.

From cleansing her skin at night, to a deep nourishing mask, manuka honey is her go-to when it comes to any skin woes.

“There’s a sort of coasting that is leaves,” she told SheKnows. “Whatever it is, I need it. It’s almost like a protective layer.”

2. A minute in the microwave

Sometimes, there is no amount of brightening cream or concealer that can hide the sleepless nights that we’ve all become accustomed to since becoming mums.

Well, Kristen says putting a wet washcloth in the microwave for 30 seconds and giving your face a quick wipe will have you looking totally refreshed.

“If I need to wake up and I don’t look awake or feel awake, I will definitely take a washcloth, get it wet and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds.”

3.  Say goodbye to spots

While our teen years may be well behind us, we still suffer from the occasional spot here and there.

And we all feel the temptation to pick when we see a spot rearing it’s ugly head.

However, if we’ve been told once, we’ve been told 100 times, it’s the worst possible thing you can do.

Kristen’s top tip is a hot compress. So, whether you buy a heated mask or soak a face cloth in hot water and place it on the effected area for five to ten minutes, this is definitely one tip to try.

“All I want to do is pick it. But I’ve made a commitment to use hot compresses – and they shockingly do work!”
