9 seriously impressive new beauty buys – right in time for summer holidays

Trine Jensen-Burke

Summer is coming.

And for that reason the majority of us are on a massive beautifying missing to ensure our dry winter skin and hair are banished, and in their place, gorgeous, glowing skin, healthy hair, and, you know, just us being at our most beautiful, glowy selves.

Enter these new beauty buys we have been lucky enough to get to test over the past few weeks, all of which left us seriously impressed at the results.

Want to know what to spend your money on at the beauty counter this summer? These are worth every penney:

1. CeraVe Moisturising Cream

If you have ever picked this cream up while stateside (it is, in fact, the fastest growing mass skincare brand in the US and frequently recommended by dermatologists there), you’ll probably be deliriously happy to hear they are now soon coming to our shores.

There are a range of products, like a seriously impressive cleanser, but the hero product, in my humble opinion, is this body cream – which is nothing short of magical in restoring your skin’s moisture levels and keeping your limbs soft and perfectly nourished. I love how the active ingredients in the cream are slow-releasing, meaning that once applied, your skin is hydrated for up to 12 hours.

A total bathroom must-have.

CeraVe Moisturising Cream, €17, in selected Irish chemists nationwide from June

2. La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum

If you treat yourself to one skincare product this spring, this should be it. Specifically formulated for dehydrated skin that has started to show some signs of ageing, La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum will help promote a firmer, more supple complexion.

Infused with Vitamin B5, Madecassoside and Hyaluronic Acid, the quick-absorbing, ultra-hydrating formula plumps and replenishes tired, dull skin, whilst minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a smooth, youthful-looking results.

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum, €38, Meagher’s Pharmacy

3. Ella + Mila Soy Polish Remover

Products that are gentle on our bodies and the environment gets a thumbs up from me. I have recently discovered this gentle nail polish remover, which not only works a charm in removing polish, but that is also both vegan and Peta Certified.

Ella + Mila Soy Polish Remover, €27, Skinful Affairs

4. Cocoa Brown Fresh Start Tan Eraser

This is the product you’ll never even realise how much you have been dreaming of until you try it. Seriously, if you use fake tan, you need to try this.

Cocoa Brown Fresh Start Tan Eraser, €9.95, Cara Pharmacy

5. Clarins SOS Primer

If you are dying to give your skin a little sun kissed glow (without actually exposing it to the sun), this limited edition primer is a must-buy. I love how it gently evens out my complexion without looking like I am actually wearing any makeup at all, and that I can use both on its own as well as under foundation.

Clarins SOS Primer, €31, Brown Thomas

6. Mademoiselle Azzaro

Fresh, cheerful, elegant, light, this is my scent of choice for summer for a good reason.

Mademoiselle Azzaro, €48, Cara Pharmacy

7. Trilogy Rosehip Transformation Cleansing Oil

I have been obsessed with Trilogy’s iconic Rosehip oil for ages, and so was super eager to get my hands on their brand new cleansing oil. I love how the oil almost transforms into a cleansing milk when mixed with water, and how it literally melts away any makeup on my face.

Also, my favourite thing is how it leaves my skin feeling silky soft, and, like so many other cleansers, doesn’t make my face feel dry or sensitive at all.

Trilogy Rosehip Transformation Cleansing Oil will be in stores from June, €23

8. Avene PhysioLift Serum

I have been a fan of Avene products ever since a holiday to France years and years ago when I picked up their iconic facial mist. And speaking of iconic, I think this new serum is heading that way too. Having tried it for a few weeks now, my skin definitively looks both firmer and plumper.

Avene PhysioLift Serum, €31.50, Meagher’s Pharmacy

9. Kérastase Serum Extentioniste

My hair is always a little lacklustre this time a year, the winter with its cold weather and artificially heated indoor air having taken its toll. However, having been testing this new nourishing leave-in scalp and hair serum from Kérastase for the past couple of weeks, I can report that my hair feel stronger, smoother and there is definitively less hair left on my brush and in the shower drain.

Kérastase Serum Extentioniste, €50, from selected salons nationwide
