How to fake glowing skin (and it actually works like a charm)

For every tired mama out there.

Trine Jensen-Burke

Fresh, healthy, glowing skin is pretty much the holy grail to most of us.

However, as we all know, this can be hard to achieve, especially when you have been up all night with a newborn, or been woken at an ungodly hour by a toddler eager for you to put on Paw Patrol.

For the most part, a bit of concealer (and some over-sized sunglasses) will do the trick, but there are times when we actually would like to look a little less tired than we feel.

And the answer, mamas, the answer is sheet masks.

Sheet masks, my friends, is still the talk of the town when it comes to clever and effective beauty buys – and if you have yet to try these genius skin pick-me-ups, you are missing out.

We have been obsessed for a while now, and have road-tested a (fair) few too. And if you want to know which ones are really worth your money, here is our top five picks:

1. Seulista Beauty Charcoal Detox

This mask was so impressive – especially when you consider the price.

We have all become obsessed with Korean skincare of late, and Seulista Beauty’s clever masks were inspired by the flawless skin of that has become the staple of South Korean women – and that we all aspire to have.

I especially loved this charcoal mask, which left my skin looking so clean and fresh, you’d swear I did nothing but drink green juices and do yoga all day.

2. Clarins Super Restorative Instant Lift Serum Mask

Having always been a huge fan of Clarins, this sheet mask did not disappoint. I love how it has been designed to also fit your neck (an area so many of us ignore when it comes to skincare, and where, often, signs of ageing shows up first).

Overall, this mask feels super-luxurious and made my skin look seriously glowing. I love how there was plenty of serum leftover on my skin once I took the mask off, that I could then massage into my face.

3. Filorga Hydra-Filler Mask

This mask has officially become a staple in my makeup bag after I tested it on a day when I had been travelling the day before, and my toddler had woken up nine(!) times that night and I genuinely looked like a ‘Walking Dead’ extra.

But after 15 minutes of wearing this mask, I swear, my skin has never looked so good. The reason being, I guess, that the Hydra-Filler mask is drenched in hyaluronic acid, as well as many other skin-plumping ingredients, which are known to re-hydrate and make skin glow in no-time.

Needless to say, I will be using this again and again (and again).
