Clean beauty is having a moment – and the trend is continuing to grow.
More and more consumers are becoming more aware of how what they put on their bodies can directly affect their health, and hence want products with ingredients that are not harmful. Also, we want products that are kind to the Earth, kind to animals and that are sustainable.
Lucky for us, brands are quickly catching up with what consumers want, and leading the pack right now is Essie. As of the end of 2020, our favourite nail polish brand is only producing nail polish formulas that are vegan and ‘eight-free.’
By ‘eight-free’ we mean excluding the following products from their formulas: formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, and triphenyl phosphate.
This reformulation applies to every and all of Essie’s nail polish lines, including Gel Couture Longwear and Treat Love & Color.
The new Treat & Love Colour is our favourite find – especially now that every nail bar has been closed for months. The perfect hybrid between treatment and colour, we love how we are not only getting the pretty shades Essie is known for, but that we are also making our nails stronger and healthier in the process.
The promise? Stronger nails in just three days – and we have put it to the test and it really, honestly does what it says on the tin!
The clinically tested new vegan formula is infused with calcium and camellia extract to help strengthen dry, brittle nails, and we love how this formula eliminates the need for a base coat, as the easy-glide brush allows you to quickly and evenly apply the polish directly to your bare nail for a beautiful Essie manicure.
