This Is The DIY Kitchen Makeover Of Our Dreams And It Cost Just 100 Quid

Sophie White

Do you live in kitchen purgatory?

Kitchen purgatory is that limbo land of perpetual ‘we’re getting the kitchen done’. Riiiiight. Just as soon as the car tax is paid, and the new uniforms are bought, the credit union comes to their senses and gives us a loan and we win the lottery.

Some of the hallmarks of kitchen purgatory is the presence of any or ALL of the following:

DEPRESSING curling old lino on the floor; FAUX ’tiled’ splashback; DATED ‘wood’ effect presses and a stubborn layer of grease that has been there since the dawn of time.

Lately I have been trying to make DIY inroads into improving my kitchen purgatory situation and when I stumbled across this simple and clever kitchen make-over I was given renewed hope.

For less than $100 (or €90) this Imgur user turned THIS:

It’s amazing what an injection of brightness a change of colour can achieve. The DIY enthusiast also laid a new floor in plywood plank (sourced for less than $1 per square foot) cut to create a herringbone pattern. What a total legend.
