This DIY salt spray will give you those perfect tousled beach waves

Trine Jensen-Burke

It’s the sexy, laid-back hair we all want to rock in the summer time.

But popping into the hairdressers for them to curl your hair into perfectly un-perfect waves can end up taking a lot of time, and eating up your entire budget too.

But guys, beach waves are, actually, incredibly doable to manage yourself. Just remember, the secret to the perfect tousled locks is in the salt water.

And while you can buy fancy bottles of this in any chemist of hairdressers, you might as well whip up this DIY salt water spray at home – it is not only cheaper than buying, but also takes no time at all to make:

What You’ll Need

Hot water
Epsom salts
Sea salt
Conditioner
Aloe vera gel
Spray bottle

What To Do

  1. Fill your spray bottle with hot water
  2. Add 2 tablespoons epsom salts, ½ teaspoon sea salt, 1 teaspoon aloe vera and ½ teaspoon conditioner
  3. Add anything else you like, such as lemon juice if you want to lighten your hair or essential oil to add a scent
  4. Put the cap on the bottle and shake until all the salt is dissolved, at least two minutes
  5. Store at room temperature (unless you added lemon) for up to three months

How To Use

Just spray on your hair right out of the shower and scrunch with a towel or cotton t-shirt for loose, beachy waves. You can also spray directly onto dry roots to add volume and texture mid-day.
