This Dublin Garden Has Had A MAJOR Facelift

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Is your garden more derelict lot than outdoor escape? More sandbox storage area than chic terrace? If so, prepare to be inspired into taking action. We’ve found one of the most enviable back yards in Ireland.

Here’s the ‘before’ shot; so far, so average…

But that was before garden guru Kevin Dennis, the Cityscape Gardener, rolled up his sleeves and set out to transform the space into an urban jungle worthy of a stand at Bloom.

Explaining his inspiration on Houzz.ie, Kevin says the project was fraught with challenges:

“The site had a very steep gradient and the clients could not maximise the use of their garden.” he explains. “After removing 100 tons of soil and rebuilding retaining walls both on the boundary and within the garden a plan unfolded that had all the boxes ticked for the family.”

Using edgy urban elements of steel, burnt timber and exotic plants, Kevin created a suburban oasis most of us only dream about.

There’s the cosy covered entertaining area…

Kevin says the design will only get better with age too: “This garden has been planted just eight months now and it will take a few years for the plants to mature and really show their true potential.” he said. “I look forward to the return visit.”

Spot of Bank Holiday gardening, anyone?
