Let’s all agree that there are few things that can make you feel as fabulous and ready to take on the world as a good blow-dry.
Bouncy, swishy, reality-starlet hair is the Holy Grail for most of us, which is why it is no wonder then that so-called blow-dry bars are popping up everywhere of late.
The only problem? Great hair don’t come cheap, and a blow-dry from any of these (or most other hairdressers or salons) will often set you back anything from €30-€45.
Which is why you can only imagine our excitement when we heard that a beauty college in Dublin are now offering €10 blow dries.
Yup, that’s right. Every Monday, Thursday, and Friday Galligan Beauty Group on Grafton Street offer €10 blow dries with one of their hairdressers in training – all overseen by a fully qualified hairdresser or teacher at the beauty school.
Being a bit of blow dry addict, of course I had to test this sounds-too-good-to-be-true offer out for myself.
The Galligan Beauty Group hair salon is located at the top of the building, and having been welcomed by one of the teachers of the academy and shown upstairs, I was then left in the hands of a lovely student who carefully made sure she knew what I was looking for from a blow dry – volume, bounce and loose waves, if you must know.
The wash and blow-dry was then done in the most prefessional manner, all overseen by the college’s main hair stylist, who also, it must be mentioned, took the time to talk to me about my hair and gave me tips about both the most amazing DIY hair mask and how my last cut (with lots of layers cut in) was actually making my hair look thinner, not fuller (which is what I was going for).
Talk about bang for your buck.
Walking out of the salon 45 minutes later (this is a blow dry you can squeeze in on your lunch break, guys), my hair was shiny, fresh and seriously bouncy. So much so that even three days later I was still rocking my lovely blown out hair and was reluctant to wash it and have all that volume be gone again.
