Here’s what your engagement ring says about you…

HerFamily

An engagement ring is one of the most important pieces of jewellery a person can buy and/or receive.

It signifies the rest of one’s life hence why people often spend weeks (if not months) picking the perfect one.

But it’s not just the price tag you have to think about, an engagement ring is so much more than that.

We did a little bit of research about this and here’s what yours apparently says about you…

The price

Yes, it’s not the be all and end all but a recent study revealed that the cost is important. It found that the more money spent on the ring, the more chance there is that the marriage will end in divorce. However, it was also found that spending too little also increases this chance. The sweet spot was deemed to be between $500/€500 and $2,000/€1,800. Pretty interesting stuff!

The diamond

When choosing a diamond, there are a lot of elements to consider – including cut, colour, carat and clarity – but we’re sticking with the cut on this occasion. A round solitaire is said to be linked to a traditional person. Princess indicates modernity and glamour while emerald signifies confidence and sophistication. Those who opt for a heart-shaped diamond tend to be bold while cushion indicates a romantic. Those who go for something coloured are deemed unique and unconventional.

Again, there is a range of different options when it comes to the metal. Yellow gold signifies someone who is traditional however the material has fallen out of favour in recent times. White gold is more contemporary while rose gold is considered warm and romantic. Platinum is associated with elegance and is deemed to be the most durable, hence why it has grown in popularity. Talk about being spoilt for choice!
