It was Kenzo last year, and Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang og Sonia Rykielhave have all done it before too. This time around it is fashion house Erdem that has been called upon to design a collection for Swedish high street giant H&M.
And having just had a sneak peak at the collection due out in shops on November 2nd, let us just say this: These pieces are what your winter wardrobe has been waiting for forever.
Designer Erdem Moralioglu is a perfectionist extraodinaire, and insists he has put as much effort in this H&M collection as he does when he designs for his own fashion house. And the collection? Just as beautiful and timeless as we had imagined. And then some.
Think dark colours, romantic florals and beautiful, feminine dresses and you get the picture; these are items you’ll have in your wardrobe for years and years to come.
The full collection look book has now been revealed – and it is seriously swoon-worthy. From beautiful floral ballgowns (that we think will look equally amazing at an actual ball as it will worn with ankle boots and a biker jacket) to trouser suits and agorgeous knitted jumpers, the entire collection looks the spitting image of Erdem’s fashion-set favourite mainline.
In an interview in the H&M online magazine this summer, Moralioglu explains how he felt when asked to design a collection for the high streeet chain:
“I was so excited! It’s such an honour to join the group of designers who have collaborated with H&M,” the London fashion favourite explains. “I had so many thoughts! It made me think there’s something hugely exciting about doing something on such a global scale. I think there’s something democratic about offering what you do to so many people in so many different countries.”
This is what the official press release from H&M has to say about the much anticipated collection:
“ERDEM x H&M is a deeply personal collection that looks back to the designer’s youth and to the codes that have defined his work over the past decade. The collection is inspired by the romantic dresses he saw in English films, his father’s coat that his mother draped over her shoulders, or the cool style of 90’s TV and music videos. To create ERDEM x H&M, he imagined the dream English countryside getaway, mixing gowns with tailoring and functionality with drama. Different generations and backgrounds will interpret the collection in their own way, with each individual’s own style.”
The H&M x Erdem collction is designed exclusively for H&M and will be available to buy in 220 H&M stores worldwide and online from November 2nd.
We don’t know about you, but we have our eyes on those gorgeous dresses – literally items that will transform our entire winter wardrobes.
