Get your glow on: 6 face oils that’ll make a huge difference to your skin

Facial oils are currently having a major beauty moment, and if you are yet to give these a try I just have one thing to say to you: You have been missing out. Big time.

In fact, ever since swapping my regular moisturizers for face oils, I will argue that my skin looks younger now that it did three years ago – which, you know, to a 30something, sleep-deprived mama is all sorts of amazing.

And the thing is, pretty much everyone who tries face oils thinks that they don’t need them – until they try and gets to see with their very own eyes the incredible difference it makes to their skin.

Face oils hold the power to plump, hydrate and balance your skin – no matter what your skin type. There are so many to choosefrom now and most beauty brands have started doing their own versions. Shop around and find one perfect for your skin, but if you want a little advice on where to start, here are six face oils I have personally tried – and bought more than once:

1. Origins Plantscription Youth-Renewing Face Oil

I am a big fan of Origins, and this botanical oil did everything it said it would do. I used it coming back from holiday, when my skin was really dehydrated from a lot of sun and salt, but the oil sank into my skin and made it feel really soft and plump right away. And the best bit? A few little drop went a really long way.

2. Bobbi Brown Extra Face Oil

This oil is another great choice if your skin is feeling a little parched and needs a hit of moisture badly. Made with a sesame, sweet almond, olive and jojoba blend, it sinks into your skin quickly, and is lightweight enough to wear under makeup, especially on days when you fancy a lovely dewy look.

TIP: You can even pat it lightly on over your foundation for true super-model looking skin.

Oh, and did I mention it smells amazing courtesy of the neroli, patchouli, and lavender, no doubt, making it perfect for massaging into your skin at night for a little DIY home spa ritual.

3. Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Cell Repair Night Oil

I am slightly obsessed with everything from this brilliant skincare brand lately, and this night oil is so amazing I keep recommending it to all my tired mama friends, as it really transforms your skin overnight.

Choc-a-bloc with skin-loving antioxidant and Omegas, this oil is pretty much a facial in a bottle, and will fight any signs of aging and dehydration while you sleep, meaning you wake up far more radiant and dewy than you looked going to bed.

A total must-try in my book.

4. Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Oil

I have been a fan of Weleda and their gentle and all-natural beauty products for ages, and did oil did little to cure my obsession. Perfect for those with really sensitive skin, the Almond Soothing Facial Oil is enriched with organic almond and plum kernel oil which balances while it also strengthens the weakened barrier of your skin.

Available from Boots and good health food stores nationwide

5. Rodin Olio Lusso

If you are going to treat yourself to one AH-MAZING beauty buy this month (or year, even), I would tell you that this is it. There is a good reason that Rodin’s Olio Lusso has achieved cult status among makeup artist and beauty bloggers world over, and once you have tried it, you will see why Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler and the entire cast of Victoria Secret’s Angels are devoted fans.

6. The Sanctuary Spa Therapist’s Secret Facial Oil

This oil impressed me. As one of the most reasonably priced facial oils I have tried, this out-performed many far more expensive ones in terms of doing what it promised to do. The Spa Therapist’s Secret Facial Oil was first developed for use at the actual The Sanctuary Spa exclusively, but is now available for purchase to use at home. And if your skin is looking a little dull and grey of late, I would suggest you go buy one quickly.
