Hygge at home: 10 super-cozy scented candles we’re burning right now

Trine Jensen-Burke

Admit it: One of the very best things about autumn is feeling totally OK with saying no to anything that requires you to leave your house in the evenings, and instead stay home and enjoy ALL the hibernation vibes.

So much same.

And we don’t know about you, but to us, dark, autumnal evenings always see us lighting a candle to two – because, let’s face it, we’re all about the hygge these days.

As for our favourites, right now, we think if you are going to spend your money on a scented candle – be it for yourself or as a present for someone else – these 10 are the yummiest, coziest ones out there:

1. Clean Slate ‘And Home’

I have long been a major fan of Irish-made Clean Slate candles, both for the gorgeous scents, but also because the minimalist design speaks for my Scandi heart.

This candle is part of the brand new Simple Living collection, and the scent is said to remind you of “that comforting feeling you get when you arrive home, you can breath out, relishing in those little homely rituals that enhance your day.”

Sounds all sorts of gorgeous? It really is, with a sort of a warm, woody smell, containing patchouli blended with fresh, uplifiting bergamot.

2. The Cosy Candle

The sleek packaging of pastel-coloured glass and a wooden lid makes this candle look a whole lot more expensive than it actually is.

Retailing at just €4.99, The Cosy Candle will be arriving into your local Aldi store in the near future, and we must admit we love the boutique hotel vibe without the price tag.

A lovely gift for yourself – or a friend!

€4.99, Aldi

3. Bergamot & Eucalyptus ‘Art Deco’ Soy Candle

Anotehr gorgeous Irish-made candle, this time from Meath-based The Handmade Soap Company.

We love the fragrance of this candle, bergamot blended with the refreshing scent of eucalyptus, which is both romantic, yet not too heavy or sweet.

Perfect on your mantel these coming weeks, we think.

€15.95, The Handmade Soap Company

4. Diptyqye Sapin Du Lumiere

Yes, we know they cost and arm and a leg, but is there anything more luxe than a candle from cult French candlemakers Diptyqye?

The Sapin Du Lumiere – Pine Tree of Light – forms part of the brand’s festive collection, and the scent will literally transport you to wintery walks in a snow-covered pine forest with notes of pine, fir and cedar trees,

The most warm and delicious autumn scent we know – pumpkin spice really is the smell of October. And you local TK Maxx is filled to the brim right now with some seriously great candle bargains.
