Can we all collectively promise each other we will never again even think about plucking our eyebrows into thin little slivers ever again?

OK, good. Because, honestly, WTF – who even came up with that trend?!

If you have been trying to grow our your eyebrows again – or simply just want yours to be thicker or fuller – you might be keen to hear about this little trick that Hailey Bieber claims she used with her own brows.

Speaking to Elle US, the 23-year-old recently revealed that she owes her naturally bushy eyebrows to a loyal application of castor oil.

That’s right – good, old castor oil.

“When I was a teenager, I plucked my eyebrows really badly. I went through that phase where I thought a thin eyebrow was the way to go,” Bieber said, reminding us of our own past brow-styling regrets. “So after I went through that, I let them grow in thick and not really have a shape. Once they came back in, I started slowly getting them shaped. I do think castor oil does help them to grow. When I was trying to get them to grow back in, I put castor oil on them every night.”

Using castor oil to promote healthy hair growth is, seemingly, nothing new, and has been done for generations.

Many use it to promote hair growth after hair loss due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, and it seems, there is actually some science behind it too.

Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Hence, it can help soothe and reduce irritation in the scalp. This, in turn, can help increase blood circulation to the scalp and increase the hair’s thickness and density. Castor oil also contains omega-6 fatty acids, and the fatty acid will feed each follicle, providing the nutrients and proteins they need to grow healthy, strong hair.

In other words, whether it is for the hair on your head or, indeed, your eyebrows, castor oil might be well worth a shot!
