How Kate Middleton turned the clock back 10 years with two beauty changes

According to a beauty expert.

Every time she steps out in a new outfit or with her hair done a different way, Kate Middleton sparks a frenzy of women wanting to recreate her flawless looks.

And when it comes to her makeup, the Duchess of Cambridge has always had her trademark look of natural skin and slick of black eyeliner, even famously opting to do her own makeup for her 2011 wedding to Prince William.

But as time has gone on, it seems Kate has started embracing a rather different look, ditching the ring of black liner around her eyes and opting for a more dewy foundation in a bid to turn back the clock.

This look, subtle as it may seem, has, according to a beauty expert, taken a decade off the princess’ face.

Speaking to MailOnline, Samantha Mercer, who runs makeup and hair company The Dollz, says that Kate has definitely embraced a ‘softer and fresher look’.

“By changing a few things in her makeup routine she’s managed to transform herself,” Mercer said. “Kate’s now a mother-of-two two now and I don’t expect she has much time to get ready every day.”

Her trademark eyeliner, which even designer Vivienne Westwood once criticised, claiming ‘the sharp line around her eyes make her look hard” has been replaced by a much more subtle line with a little flick at the edge, a much more youthful and on-trend look.

This makes sense when you hear this makeup artist explain how maturing skin needs a different approach to makeup than younger skin:

“As your skin matures you want your under eye area to look as clean, bright and fresh as possible,” beauty presenter Niki McEwan told Femail. “The more light you can allow under your eye the more refreshed, refined and youthful your under-eye area will look.”

The same goes for Kate’s foundation swap. Whereas before, the (almost) mother-of-three tended to go for a more matte look for her makeup, lately she has been seen sporting a more dewy complexion, which instantly makes the skin appear more hydrated and youthful.
