2021 decor trends

This past year, most of us have spent more time inside our own homes than ever before.

And, I think, maybe have this entire new appreciation for it as our own personal shelter. Our place in the world.

But – also – having spent this much this inside the four walls of our home over the past eight-nine months, I think many of us are keen to refresh things a little. Shake the decor up a tad for the new year. After all – new year, new vibes and all that.

And if this sounds like your new year’s project, you might be keen to learn about some of the biggest decor trends experts predict we’ll be seeing lots more of in 2021.

We have looked at Google Trends data to track the home trends throughout 2020, showing which trends has had the biggest uplift in interest.

Take a look at the top trends to have on your radar below…

1. Dried flowers

Everyone is keen to have more connection to nature, it seems, and so not only are indoor green plants still in vogue, it seems we are also all embracing dried flowers when it comes to decorating our homes.

Use them as centrepieces when decorating your table, or simply display in a sculptural vase – either way, it’ll make your home look right on trend.

2. Herringbone floors

With an increase of 177.42 percent in searches, we reckon we can expect to see herringbone flooring popping up in many homes around the globe. Perfect if you’re looking to create that traditional country feel, as well.

You might have spotted this one as a trend already, and it seems we are still loving darker kitchens these days. With an increase of 147.83 percent in seaches, we reckon your Instagram feed is about to be bombarded with gorgrous, navy kitchens. And honestly, we might be in love with this trend ourselves.

5. Wall panelling

Wood-panelled walls might have once been reserved for grand drawing rooms in stately country homes, but recently, they have been popping up in many ‘regular’ homes too, and it seems every interior Instagrammer is as obsessed with them as we are.
