We love what this mum did with some bargain IKEA shelves in her baby’s nursery

IKEA hack nursery

An absolute bargain.

Sometimes all you need is a little creativity. And a bargain piece of furniture from IKEA.

Like in this case, when a mum-to-be wanted to get the nursery ready for her baby, and opted for a very clever IKEA hack to fashion some seriously cute bookshelves for her little girl.

Her starting point? The €15 Flisat wall storage from IKEA.

The simple wooden shelf is nice and pared back as it is, but wait till you see how chic they became with little more than some leftover caning. And practically zero effort.

Fancy doing something similar? All you need is two IKEA Flisat shelves, heavy-duty scissors (or garden scissors), stape gun and a roll of caning.

Now all you need to do is the following according to Domino:

1. Don’t fully assemble the shelves—stop before you screw in the bar (the staple gun won’t fit in the nook otherwise).

2. Cut the caning to size using the garden scissors.

3. Staple the caning to the bottom part of the shelf.

4. Voila – all ready to be filled with books.
