We have made it through the baby years, and my children now (for the most part) sleep soundly through the night.
However, this does not necessarily mean that I am getting any more shut-eye.
Far from it.
No, now, these days, once the children go to bed, that is my time to catch up on things I never got around to doing during the day, such as laundry/e-mails/The Crown/eating that banana bread I baked earlier/write out my shopping list for this weekend birthday party – you name it, I pretty much do it in that window of time that exists between my children go to bed and I go to bed myself.
The problem? This slot is far too short for all the things I need to do, and so I stretch them, going to bed later – much later – than what I should be doing, and regretting it immensely when my alarm goes off at 06.05 the following morning.
Yawn.
The problem? I have written about beauty and skincare long enough to realise the absolute havoc this is playing on both my body and my skin.
